New Commissioner Named for Commerce Department

Saturday, April 30th, 2011

A former Tesoro oil company executive has been named as the new commissioner of the state Commerce Department.

Alan Anderson starts the job next week. He was the manager of Tesoro`s Mandan refinery for six years. He was a vice president for development at Tesoro before retiring from the company last year.

Anderson succeeds Shane Goettle, who left earlier this year work as state director for Senator John Hoeven.

Paul Govig has been serving as acting commissioner.

Paul Govig has done an outstanding job for us over a number of years. He is qualified but, as in all of life, we make these choices, there is competition in this world. Al Anderson, we think, brings some exceptional assets to the job, said Gov. Jack Dalrymple.

The governor says Govig will remain with the Commerce Department in his old job as deputy commissioner.

Product Review: Tru-Spec 24-7 Series shorts, pants, and polo

Friday, April 29th, 2011

Product Review: TRU-SPEC 24-7 Series shorts, pants, and poloThe TRU-SPEC 24-7 line of clothing is perfect for special unit personnel who routinely keep a lower profile but need maneuverable and durable wear

I recently tested the TRU-SPEC 24-7 9 Shorts, 24-7 Polyester Cotton Zip Off Pants, and the 24-7 Series Short-Sleeve Polo. These products were among the best, most mobile and quietest tactical wear I have tested. Considering the fact that they are lower priced than several other brands, they are easy to recommend.

What we now know as TRU-SPEC evolved from the original ATLANCO company, a leading supplier of personal equipment to troops and purchasers of military-style equipment that has been around since 1950. TRU-SPEC has been around for over a decade, since the company recognized the need for innovative professional wear.

The 24-7 Polyester cotton zip off pant is a trouser which converts to nine-inch shorts just by unzipping the legs. It comes in black or khaki. The shorts come in six colors.

Newport Plastic Surgeon Inducted Into Prestigious and Exclusive Plastic …

Thursday, April 28th, 2011

Newport Beach plastic surgeon Dr. Semira Bayati is now a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), which is the leading professional organization of plastic surgeons certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. With 2,600 members in the United States, Canada, and many other countries around the world, ASAPS is a prestigious organization on the forefront of innovation in cosmetic plastic surgery for procedures such as facelift, body contouring, and breast augmentation.

Newport Beach, CA (PRWEB) April 26, 2011

At her Newport Beach, CA plastic surgery practice, Semira Bayati, MD, FACS is announcing her induction into the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), which is the leading professional organization for board-certified cosmetic plastic surgeons. With over 2,600 members worldwide, ASAPS remains committed to pursuing the latest aesthetic enhancement technology, cutting-edge techniques, public education, and patient advocacy for procedures such as liposuction, tummy tucks, and breast enhancement.

Only about one quarter of all plastic surgeons certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery are members of ASAPS [1], as the standards for membership are extensive. Ultimately, Dr. Bayati says one of the most impressive and informative elements is the fact that ASAPS membership requires a surgeon to be sponsored by two current ASAPS members to ensure that her professional reputation maintains the organizations high standards.

As Dr. Bayati prepares for the ASAPS Aesthetic Meeting 2011, which will be held in Boston from May 6-11, she says she is excited to attend the event this year as a member. She adds that if ASAPS is the leader in plastic surgery worldwide, the annual conference is the nexus of innovation in the field of cosmetic enhancement.

About Dr. Bayati

Semira Bayati, MD, FACS earned her medical degree from the Boston University School of Medicine. She then completed her general and plastic surgery residencies at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine, as well as a fellowship at Loma Linda University Medical Center. Dr. Bayati is a member of the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, and is a fellow of the America College of Surgeons. She is also Diplomate of the American Board of Plastic Surgery, and regularly publishes in numerous medical journals.

Dr. Bayatis plastic surgery practice is located at 20311 SW Birch St. Ste. 200 in Newport Beach, CA 92660, and can be reached at (949) 756-0400, or found online at www.drbayati.com, or the Cosmetic Surgery Newport Beach – Dr. Bayati Facebook page.

Vick’s message: Dogfighting is no game | Philadelphia Inquirer | 2011-04-27

Thursday, April 28th, 2011

Because Dog Wars has players condition dogs to fight, this game may be a virtual training ground for would-be dogfighters. Its timing and message are all wrong, said Wayne Pacelle, Humane Society president.

Kage Games defended its app in a statement:

Remember: It is just a video game. . . . Go complain to someone who cares about Call of Duty, Grand Theft Auto, Weed Farmer, Smoke A Bowl . . . and maybe even Sierras Leisure Suit Larry from 1987.

After serving 18 months in prison on federal charges related to running a dogfighting operation in Virginia, Vick has worked with the Humane Society to share his anti-dogfighting message at many schools.

Vick has been making other video-game news as well. If online voters pick him over Cleveland Browns running back Peyton Hillis, he will be on the cover of Madden NFL 12, the next edition of the hugely popular pro football game. The winner will be announced Wednesday at 4 pm on ESPN.

Lakewood takes aim at shopping carts, panhandling and graffiti

Lakewood is searching for answers about how to deal with abandoned shopping carts in response to complaints, safety and health concerns, and the awareness that past efforts to get stores to collect their carts have proved unsuccessful. The council discussed the issue last week during a meeting at which it also took up two other common nuisances: aggressive begging and graffiti.

Product Review Sites That Focus on Honest Toy Reviews

Thursday, April 28th, 2011

–>

Do a search on Google for product review sites and you will get over 12 million results. Clearly there is no shortage of sites offering product reviews for every thing from gadgets to toys. However, if you dig deeper into those Google results you will find that many of the product review sites are selling the products that they review and this creates a huge conflict of interest.

DadDoes.Com offers product reviews that are completely honest and unbiased. The product review pledge at Dad Does states that they never accept money for any product review and they also do not make money if you buy the products that they recommend.

We feel the only way to offer objective product reviews is to never charge for product reviews. Once you start charging for product reviews or profiting from the reviews that you write, your reviews start to look like advertisements states Dan Nessel, founder of DadDoes.Com

DadDoes.Com offers a wide range of product reviews in all different categories. Everything from Food to Toys is covered on the site. Recently, Dad Does has been focusing on some interesting toys that they found at Toy Fair 2011.

Mastermind is a classic game that was first released over 40 years ago. Now, Pressman Toy has brought the original Mastermind back and in addition has released Animal Mastermind Towers. DadDoes.Com received samples of both toys and now has a full hands on review at their site.

The Animal Mastermind Towers review includes a video so that readers can see exactly how the game is played. Animal mastermind still involves guessing a code, but the code is now done with animals instead of colored pegs.

We think young kids will really enjoy Animal Mastermind Towers. It is a quick game to learn, but there is still a lot of strategy to keep kids involved. We encourage parents to take a look at our video review so they can decide if this game would appeal to their children states Nessel.

DadDoes.Com will continue to offer a wide range of product reviews over the coming weeks. As the weather turns warmer, look for reviews on outdoor gadgets and games.

About DadDoes.Com

Dad Does is the place where Dads Do Things and Review Things. Founded in September, 2010, by Dan Nessel, DadDoes.Com has already become a destination site for Dads and Moms looking for brutally honest, informative and fun reviews. DadDoes.Com believes that parents care about more than just strollers and baby bottles they dont stop eating, drinking and playing just because they become parents. Dads and Moms do see things through a different lens and DadDoes.Com looks to provide information on everything, through that parent lens.

Ministry’s Howard Young names fine arts chairperson

Thursday, April 28th, 2011

WOODRUFF, WI–For roughly two decades, the halls of Howard Young Medical
Center (HYMC) have served as a place for displaying local artists paintings,
drawings, photography, as well as three-dimensional artwork.

Hospital
administration plans to continue that tradition and recently announced that a
role within the hospital volunteer organization has been created to lead in the
coordination of future displays. Christine Alfery, artist and art educator,
recently joined the Auxiliary of Howard Young Medical Center and will serve in
this new role as the Fine Art Chairperson.

As an artist, Alfery has competed across the country and her work has earned
major honors and awards. A frequent visitor to the northwoods, Alfery and her
husband moved to the area roughly two years ago from Madison where she taught
art at the University of Wisconsin.

“We are fortunate to have Christine leading this effort. Her creativity,
energy and expertise will strengthen the ongoing coordination of exhibitions and
education,” stated Laurie Oungst, Vice President of Hospital Operations.
Exhibitions will feature local artists and at times expand to include state and
national artists. Educational programs will include lectures, films, discussion
and guided tours of artists who are featured in the exhibition space.

Thirty artists from the Lakeland area are currently exhibiting their work in
the spring exhibition at the Howard Young Art Gallery. According to Oungst, “The
hospital’s commitment to the visual arts is due – in part – to honoring the
legacy of S. Howard Young and his passion for art as a dealer and collector, as
well as the philosophy that art is central to healing, wellness and quality of
life. We look forward to furthering our commitment as we work with area art
leagues and individual artists into the future.”

The Howard Young Art Gallery is located in the HYMC at 240 Maple Street in
Woodruff, Wisconsin. If you are interested in exhibiting please contact
Christine Alfery at 715-588-7115 or christinealfery@christinealfery.com.
